Camp Scully Goals & Objectives
Every child will learn a skill that will be valuable to them for the rest of their life.
Objectives: recognition program for observed positive behavior (bead program, Scully letters), providing positive role models, correcting poor behavior choices with positive choices, explanation of life skills & their importance (please/thank-you’s, forgiveness, etc.) exposure to new activities & why it’s important to decline gracefully, providing opportunity for positive risk-taking (talk more about what is positive risk-taking?)
Every child will make a friend.
Objectives: Labeling friendship behavior—teaching a child what friendship looks like, providing socialization opportunities within their peer group, providing positive reinforcement of good behavior choices, providing positive role-models, providing an environment that fosters friendship.
Every child will share in the responsibilities of group living.
Objectives: cabin inspections, camp clean up (cc’s), providing positive role models, positive reinforcement.
Every child will use more positive and specific words to describe themselves and others.
Objectives: positive role models, positive reinforcement, opportunities for praise, Scully beads, camper awards, golden toilet seat, providing opportunities for achievement and growth.
Every child will gain a greater understanding of the natural environment.
Objectives: Providing opportunities for exploration through Nature, Outdoor Adventurers, night hikes, lake exploration, being outside all day! Positive role models that exhibit care and respect for the natural environment.
